ACT or American College Testing is an exam that colleges from all US states use as an entry test. The ACT exam is rather popular in the USA and we know through statistics that more than 65% of high school graduates choose to pass this test. The exam format is rather simple and that is what has made it so popular. ACT is completely based on multiple-choice questions; there are over 200 questions that are asked in this test. Each candidate gets exactly 175 minutes to answer all of them.

There are two options that the student can choose, one of which has only multiple-choice questions while the other option consists of an essay that is optional and if the candidate chooses to write it, then he/she will get an extra time ( about 40 minutes). The ACT test contains questions from four main domains, such as English, Reading, Science, and Mathematics.

The English section comes with 75 questions and its time duration is 45 minutes. The questions in this section refer to six main areas that include grammar and usage, punctuation, style, sentence structure, and organization and strategy.

The Reading section contains 40 questions that should be answered in 35 minutes. As the name of the section suggests, the candidates are required to read every question carefully and give the correct answer. This section is all about comprehension.

The Science section of ACT gives the candidates 35 minutes to answer 40 questions. Calculators are not allowed during this test. The section measures the candidate’s reasoning, solving, and interpretation skills.

The Mathematics section of the ACT test is perhaps the longest one; this is because it consists of 60 questions that should be answered within 60 minutes. This section is designed in such a way that it tests the candidate’s mathematical knowledge. The questions are not too advanced and if you studied properly in high school, then you will find them rather easy.
